traces gestures memory

The written language deserves its role to name, describe, relate; opening us to understand and permiting to remember. Being a tool of presence. The signs are mysterious and sensitive: abstract and concrete, as images, as pictograms, as ideas; we do feel subconscionsciously their deep complexity.

Indeed, they have been offering their face for the transcription of our oral language, we often think that the signs are silent by themselves, but their forms speak to us. After millenary efforts to serve our thoughts in many ways they still show quietly - it was actually their first role. I do envisage the writings within the legibility of what the alphabets were created for, and also watch beyond the strict representation of the sounds they represent.

When things are gone, away from most the senses, writings are here to relate our emotions. So I also believe they exhibit more that what they are generaly attributed to, free from the oral language transcription. We feel the forms as much as we read their meaning.

The written langage also has this power to fix short times of life. The multiple layers of letterforms evolution made bricks for our up-and-coming knowledge. Their history reflects human-being matters. They are deep and fertile roots, solid branches, growing leaves, and they are constantly throwing seeds.

The writings are lively forms: they vibrate, transmit, tell, sweat, exchange. They are the visible - intimate or public - movements of the mind as a body for our thoughts.
